Description:

The microbiology laboratory technician performs microbiological enumeration on food samples and zone one swabs. The microbiology laboratory technicians use good laboratory practices to ensure results are accurate. The microbiology laboratory technicians also document results in compliance with company policies.

Duties:
Perform duties with little to no supervision
• Process food samples to determine Colony Forming Units (CFU/g) per gram of microorganisms.
• Process zone one swabs to determine microbial contamination of food contact surfaces (CFU/ml)
• Follows good laboratory practices to ensure accurate results.
• Uses basic laboratory equipment properly i.e..
• Laboratory Balance
• pH meter
• Microscope
• Stomacher (Laboratory Blender)
• Thermometer

Qualifications:
• Good sense of responsibility and ownership for one’s duties
• Ability to follow instructions (written and verbal)
• Basic Computer skills (Office Suit)
• Must be a team player
• General knowledge of GLP and aseptic technique.
• Ability to prioritize tasks.
• Punctuality; good attendance
• Requires weekend work; days off rotate
• Maintains good attendance record
• Must be able to work in an environment that is a constant 33-40 degrees

Education and/or Work History:
• Minimum of Bachelor of Science
• Maintains good attendance record
